THE SECOND Open Doors Cultural TROLLEY Tour of 2010  RUNS thursday, JULY 22!   MOST VENUEs WILL BE RAFFLING OFF GIFT CERTIFICATES TO LOCAL RESTAURANTS!  VISIT ANY OF THE NINE VENUES TO SIGN UP,  THEN JUMP ON ONE OF TWO TROlleys THAT WILL circle the venues from 5 - 8 pm, stopping BY EACH location about every 30 minutes.  all stops are free admission and most have special events planned just for this night!  
 
Open Doors welcomes a new venue:  Monte Verde Art Glass Studio.  Stop in to their studio to see their fused glass pieces, design a piece, and see the process it takes to create the beautiful works on display.  Door prizes and light refreshments, too!  (250 Commercial St.)
 
The Millyard Museum features the special exhibit "Abraham Lincoln: Manchester Remembers." This exhibit helps to mark the 150th Anniversary of Lincoln's visit to Manchester on March 1st, 1860. Also enjoy the permanent exhibit "Woven in Time: 11,000 Years at Amoskeag Falls" that features many wonderful artifacts, objects, documents, and artwork. Stop by the Museum Shop to check out a selection of books related to Manchester history, and special Lincoln-related gift items.  The Millyard Museum's gift certificate raffle is to Fratello's.  (200 Bedford St, www.manchesterhistoric.org
 
New at the SEE Science Center this summer is a display of six models from the Rothschild Patent Model Collection, a renowned collector of these glimpses into America’s rich entrepreneurial and inventive history.  The original models were produced between 1856 and 1881, illustrating the craftsmanship and industrial needs of the time.  SEE also features hands-on science exhibits for all ages; topics include bubbles, magnetism, motion and forces, the science of ice hockey, sound, light and simple machines.  SEE is home to the LEGO Millyard project, a model of Manchester’s  Amoskeag millyard made entirely of LEGO bricks, the largest of its kind in the world.  One lucky visitor will win a gift card to the local eatery, Cafe 324.  SEE is open 7 days a week.  (200 Bedford St.,  669-0400. www.see-sciencecenter.org)
 
The Framers Market will be hosting the opening reception for its summer art show Dog Days  in conjunction with an Open Doors Manchester Trolley Night. This canine art show will run from July 22 through September 3 and a percentage of its sales will benefit the Animal Rescue League of NH. The artists exhibiting in this show will include Molly Poole, Robin Kent, Tracey Carrier, Judy McLean, Kim Logan, Lorraine Kulik, Dan Greuling,  Heidi Lorenz  and Janet Kollman. On that evening there will be a volunteer from the ARL in attendance with a dog available for adoption and free raffles, including a chance to win a mini oil portrait of your favorite pet. The City of Manchester 5th Annual Employee & Family Art Show is officially open at the Art on the Wall at City Hall Gallery in City Hall and throughout the City Hall Annex.  The show features artistic works from the various departments throughout the city, retirees and the Manchester School District.  The works are divided into three adult categories: amateur, intermediate and professional.  Two youth categories are also featured: 12 & under and teen. Prizes will also be awarded in the Mayor’s Choice, Governor’s Choice and People’s Choice category.  The winners will be chosen by an independent panel of judges and announced at a Reception and Awards Ceremony on July 22, 2010 in Aldermanic Chambers at City Hall from (4:00pm – 5:30pm).   The public is invited to view the show during the hours that City Hall is open to the public (M-F 8:00am – 5:00pm and Tuesday until 8:00pm) and vote for the People’s Choice Award.  The show will be on display through August 27.  Sign up for a gift certificate raffle to Richard's Bistro.  (One City Hall Plaza, Elm St , 624 6500)

Whether it is a splsh of color or a splash of water, it’s on display at Art 3 Gallery this summer! The show features over 75 local and regional artists showing watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings, ceramics, photography, and mixed media. From raindrops to ocean spray and tranquil lakes, this summer show abounds in creative interpretations of “Splash”. Traditional paintings embrace New Hampshire lakes and seacoast, from dynamic ocean waves to a serene sail on a lake.  The show includes boats, buoys, and bathing beauties that are compelling images of this short, sultry season.   "Splash!” will be on display from July-19 September 24.   There will be an artists reception and opening from 5:00-8:00, in conjunction with Open Doors Manchester.  Musical guest at the opening is Tom Pirozzoli,  performing his sophisticated sounds of classical guitar with a highly original take on popular, jazz, classical and folk. Park at Art 3 and ride the trolley through downtown and the Millyard to other venues. At the Manchester Artists Association Gallery, the current exhibit at the gallery is the Open Juried  Photography Show of 2010.  The reception for this show is Trolley Night, July 22th, from 5-8PM.  Admission is free and refreshments will be served.  Come register for our free raffle to win a gift card to Margarita's and Piccola's.  (785-6437, 1528 Elm St, www.manchester-artists.org )
 
SOPHA (The Studio of Photographic Arts) will be holding the Opening Night for their latest member show "Summer Time." Come and see artwork exhibited by over seventy photographers working out of the Manchester and greater New England area. A portion of the proceeds from the artwork sold during this show will go to benefit the New Hampshire Food Bank and the option to make individual donations will also be available.  SOPHA will be raffling off a gift certificate to Conseulo's.
